In preparation for what will be an especially exciting season next year, the Champney’s West Heritage Group is holding a series of fundraisers over the fall/winter. Last month’s online auction (Bartlett Auction House) of Newfoundland artist Ed Roche’s beautiful painting “Ice Flow, Champney’s East” was a great success. Thank you to all who participated!

Our latest holiday fundraiser is the perfect way to celebrate ‘Comfort & Joy’ with a chance to win a beautiful handmade heirloom quilt.

Tickets are just $5 each available by e-transfer to support@champneyswest.ca – please type your name and mailing or email address in the memo box to receive your tickets. (Local residents can also get tickets by calling/texting Wanda Pippy at 709-464-7012). Did you know….

Like most heirloom quilts, this one has a special story and history. The vintage fabrics came from clothing donations collected from local residents. They were lovingly cut, pieced together and made into quilt tops by Amy Hookey, a remarkable woman and a pillar of the Champney’s West community until she passed at the age of 107. Sometime later, former CW resident Margaret Quinton, completed the quilts. This large, colourful and cozy quilt truly does represent the fabric of the Champney’s West community!
